She is a teaching artist for New York City Ballet and Dancing Classrooms, a board member at The Kenan Institute for the Arts, and the Associate Director of UNCSA Choreographic Institute.
Mari Meade’s class for beginner to advanced dancers supports joy, bravery, and validation while sharing knowledge about dance techniques. Class begins on the floor with a warm up movement phrase, and as students come to standing, they explore a diverse movement vocabulary that draws from formal modern dance techniques (Limón, Cunningham, and Release). Throughout the class, students will explore concepts of “Brave space” and “Brave bodies," bringing an awareness to the interplay and importance of challenging physicality with intellect. The class will culminate in a movement phrase of Meade’s choreography.
